SATURDAY SPECIAL: Spring Fling, Fabric-8 and a Purple Mini-Wonder

Isn’t spring grand? Lawns are finally being mowed, flowers are bursting forth everywhere, and the sun is coming back. Okay, for our southern hemisphere friends the sun is leaving, leaves are turning glorious russet shades, and it’s harvest time, but either way these transitional seasons get us Q-bies all worked up to try something new!

So how about some new books from C&T Publishing? They are having a Spring Fling Sale this weekend! Go here now and browse their sale list with 50 to 75% off many great books and products! We’re sure they have something that will help you get your creative juices flowing. At these prices you don’t even have to hide your haul from your significant others.

And speaking of creative juices, there’s still time to get you or one of your artsy friends a chance to shine in the spotlight over at Robert Kaufman Fabrics. There are still a few days left to enter their Fabric-8 (so clever are those Kaufman peeps with their titles) Contest where someone will get a chance to become a Fabric Rock Star Designer. And even if you aren’t so inclined to enter the contest, you still get the fun of being a voice in who does win by voting on your favorite entries. Check it out all the deets here.

And last but not least, our quilt of the week. We send Scott out looking for these things, and we are happy to say that even though he vehemently despises purple personally, his find this week made him doubt his purple prejudice just a wee little bit, and delighted the rest of the Gen Q staff with this pick. Never mind that the wonky star does look suspiciously familiar.

We love how the quilting simply defines the front and then gives a delightful shadow of the same on the back.

Jen made this for her friend Holly whom she met via Instagram and Flickr. The two became friends, and Holly helped Jen with her blog design. And this is Jen’s thank you present back to Holly. We love the quilt, but we love even more these kind of relationships that form via the mutual love of the cloth and the wonderful ways in which the e-world has connected us.

Wishing you a glorious weekend of color no matter which hemisphere you live in.
