There is NO rule about having all your holiday decorations done before said holiday. (We have a friend who enjoys doing her Christmas cards on Christmas Eve, before a roaring fire and with eggnog in hand.) So while the big Day o’ Candy is almost here, you can still enjoy some leisurely Halloween-y paper piecing, especially if you can rope someone else into answering the door and tossing out the Tootsie Rolls.

Julie Elliott’s skulls-meets-Pineapple pillow design is the very thing! Skullz Roundup came about from her experimentation with the Pineapple block to find new ways to infuse this traditional block with a little modern flair. It includes fussy-cutting and paper-piecing and makes great use of cream, orange, black and gray scraps.

Julie’s work has been juried into QuiltCon and AQS Quilt Week in Paducah. She’s been quilting for as long as she can remember, and spreads her talent over many styles, including traditional, modern and art quilts. If you enjoy her pattern, reach out to her at juliea.elliott@yahoo.com.

Now, go queue up Netflix with your fave Halloween flick (go classic with Bell, Book and Candle or stay contemporary with Hocus Pocus) and let the skully fun begin!

So I never did hear anything more about being chosen to win Maria Shell’s book. Did you need more information from me?
