Hello, Q-bies!

Last week, it was marching band practice wafting over the air. Today, it was the sharp scent of roasting chiles. OMG, it’s darned near fall here in Albuquerque. (Well, you certainly can’t tell by the weather. It was 90+ today before noon!) What are the sounds and smells of fall in your area? Tell us….And while you’re thinking, check out what Blog Traffic Controller Scott Hansen (aka GenQ advertising manager and the man behind Blue Nickel Studios) has for our quiltification today…

Blog post of the week

Q-bie Sue Laughton tipped Scott off to this blog post for our weekly pick. Scott really likes the Em Celebrates site in general because it’s so full of great shots of Em’s work and inspirations, but when he saw this post, he knew Sue was right. It had to be the post of the week…

Scott’s take: “This is so Generation Q! Roll a jeep, snap a picture, right said jeep, text son to look for woman who can handle such adventures, then go back home and play with fabric the rest of the day…pretty simple and all in a day’s work for a Gen Q-er!”

You’ll just have to go read it.

Quilt of the week….

And for quilty eye candy this weekend, Scott is serving up Organic Bit&Ripples, a tasty number by Alison Schmidt at The Occasional Pin. Alison’s quilt won one of the categories in the year-long Project Modern competition sponsored by the Modern Quilt Guild.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I love the little schnippets just chattering along all the grey space. I wish I could see the quilting more, but I just love the busy-ness of this quilt in the midst of its calmness…the best of both worlds.  It’s funny, but for a very gray quilt, it has a lot of activity going on in those little bits.”

Got a quilt or blog post candidate you’d like to nominate for one of our picks of the week? Just shoot an e-mail to Scott at scott@generationqmagazine.com and tell him all about it!  He can’t pick everyone, but he will keep a running list and keep checking it for the exact Post that gets the Gen Q vibe

WooooOOoooHOOOOooooO!!! I love that you picked Em Celebrates! for the first featured blog post!. Em is such an inspiration and a cheerleader – she’s helped me ‘put on the Big Girl Pants’ and venture more & more out of my comfort zone. 😀
