“To sleep, perchance to Dream” ~ Hamlet, William Shakespeare.
Well, it seemed like a good way to open this missive re: bedside tables. And then the curious writer of said missive looked up the etymology of the quote. What Hamlet means and current understanding are entirely different things. Rather than beginning with this particular quote we’ll start with the question posed: So, what’s on your bedside table?
GenQ Ad Manager Melissa K says, “The Thank You notes I need to write” adding her own personal hashtag #holidaychorestillundone. MK has some lovely handwriting, it’s fun to get a note from her.

Associate Editor Bev
Bev has a sewing machine! Check that out QBies. That may be a salesman’s model or a kids toy, however it’s pretty. As we polled our crew water and some kind of reading material are on the top of everyone’s list.
No one is surprised by this stack of reading materials by Melissa Thompson Maher’s bedside. We did, however, find it amusing that the water glass and the coaster live in separate spaces. Sticky notes and a highlighter are essential.
These next two photos are from Scott & Linda Hansen, a “his & hers” version. He has the round table, she has the square. He has the CD player & phone, she has the alarm clock & flashlight. He has the lamp & she has the books. She has beautiful artwork, a lovely reminder of the name of one of their kids.
Teri has a wide variety of things: barrettes for her sometimes unruly hair; tissues; an ornate family Bible complete with some family history; two phones, the house line and her cell; Cheryl Sleboda’s Muppin patch; various and sundry other things that clearly need to move on to other places.
Leslie, with a stack of books is similar to Melissa and Tracy. We’re not surprised she likes to read.
Tracy has about ten books, only one completely read. A mason jar with water, eos lip balm, the pottery bowl Melissa gave her with the jewelry she wears every day in it, readers, a nail file, a lamp, and her essential oil diffuser. Inquiring minds want to know… what fragrance?
What’s on your bedside table?
