StashFest

It’s time for StashFest! It’s one of the coolest fabricky gatherings in the Northwest–a FREE, two-day meet-up of the quilting and textile community to raise awareness and funds for the LaConner Quilt & Textile Museum. And the LaConner is a so-worthy textile cause. It was founded by Rita Hupy in 1997 as a place to display the quilts of local, national and international quilters, but also to preserve the Gaches Mansion, a Victorian era home that has now been fully restored. StashFest takes place March 29-30 in the La Conner Civic Garden Club just across the street from the actual museum structure.

Festivities kick off  on Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m. in grand style with a one-hour Preview Sale for a limited number of ticket holders  who get dibs on everything. (Our contact, Patricia Belyea of Okan Arts says 15 Preview Sale tickets are still available at this moment. Better hurry if you’re interested!)  That first-dibs ticket extends to items in the StashFest Sponsor Shop, which  includes generous donations from Robert Kaufman Fabrics, In the Beginning Fabrics, Hobbs Bonded Fibers, Colonial Needle, Martinagale and C&T Publishing.

If you can’t hit the Preview Sale, there’s still plenty of fun (and fabric) to be enjoyed, because the event runs through Sunday afternoon. Door prizes are awarded every hour, and you can discover one-of-a-kind fabrics and designer wearables from a wide variety of vendors.

There are eight fabric presenters this year:
Ann Darling —Eclectic global fabrics and designer clothing
Ako Shimozato—Japanese textile reinvented
Suzanna Leigh–Hand-painted and dyed silks
Peggy Juve —Digitally printed artist fabrics and clothing
The CQA Collection—Collectors’ choice fabrics
Annie Lewis—Hand silk-screened new and upcycled fabrics
Melanie Hopkins—Hand-dyed Kona cottons
Patricia Belyea—Vintage Japanese yukata cotton.
