So, when a children's author/illustrator plays with fabric design…

…we get some incredible, wonderful fabric to fondle!

We’re talking about Julie Paschkis of course.

The Spring 2013 issue of Generation Q Magazine features an article on Julie, her books and her current collection with In The Beginning Fabrics. Julie has written and illustrated some wonderful children’s books over the years and her talents easily translate into fabric design. In her most recent book, Mooshka A Quilt Story, Julie writes about a special quilt named Mooshka. Owned by a little girl named Karla, Mooshka was special not just because of its colors and design (bright HSTs, thank you very much) but because this quilt can talk! Of course this is not unusual to us Q-bies because our quilts talk to us all of the time. Isn’t that why, after all, we never get lonely when we’re stitching?

As part of our attempt to inspire and delight our readers, we offered a limited number of panels AND signed copies of Julie’s book for purchase in that Spring issue. Know what? WE SOLD OUT in a week! So we quickly pulled together a second order for more panels and signed books which should be in within a week, making Mooshka available again for all of you. How’s that for tempting?

We will have a total of 15 sets of books/fabric panels and an additional handful of panels available for your enjoyment. A couple of our team members took the panels, which feature a kitty that can become a stand up doll and the printed quilt featured in the book, and they worked their embroidery magic on our kitty. The way the kitty is drawn, it leaves lots of potential for fun, simple stitching and we love the results. For more information about the sets, click HERE. And if you do finish your Mooshka kitty doll, we’d love to see what you do with it. Send us a pic and we’ll show it off big time.

Also, did you know that we are now offering subscriptions? Yes. Finally. Starting with Issue 5, the June/July 2013 issue which also marks our first bimonthly issue, we’re mailing out subscription orders. But, as we always say, we’d much prefer that you continue to purchase GenQ from your local quilt shop, if that shop carries us. It’s far more important to us to support our LQS. But, in the absence of a local GenQ source, we’re thrilled to send us to you directly. For more info on subscriptions, click HERE.

Lastly, we have back issues of GenQ looking for good homes. Starting with Issue 1, our Debut Issue from a year ago, until now, all four issues of GenQ in print are available for purchase. For more information on them, click HERE.

So that’s the business end of things for us today. We’re busily working on the content for Issue 5, and if we do say so ourselves, it’s shaping up to be a great issue! Look for it at the end of May.

I ordered a panel last Friday & can barely wait until it’s here! First day on my new job – had to give myself a prezzie.
