Quilt of the Week:

This week’s quilt of the week comes from Jen at BettyCrockerAss. Well, really only part of it is from Jen and her  mad sewing skille. The overall design is from her amazing daughter Amelia. Did we mention that Amelia is in Pre-Kindergarten? Apparently, Amelia’s teacher needed a end of the year gift for being so awesome. Jen didn’t have time to make a whole quilt, she just wanted to make something small, but Amelia said something bigger was required. You can read the whole story here. Besides just liking, oh, everything about this quilt, we love the “signature” red square that Jen included on the corner.

Post of the Week:

You know Q-bies, we do love our quilts, but sometimes practical matters deem more practical methods. That’s why we love this post over at Coats and Clark by the Fabulous Heather Jones (she has a quilt in our debut issue that you will just love). The tutorial gives step by step instructions with great photos and tips for working with laminates. It is a whole cloth piece both top and backing, but if you have loads of extra time this summer (yeah, right) you could piece a top and use Heather’s instructions for adding a laminate backing. Of course our down under friends may very well be able to take that time as they approach their winter solstice and be all ready for their next summer.
