Eclectic. Yes, that is really who we are as a quilting community. A little modern, a little traditional, a little avant garde. Our Summer 2016 cover reveals this with Linda Nitzen’s Raspberry & Butterscotch Blessings quilt. In this issue, we also have Playdates from Stephanie Forsyth, Melissa Peda, Pat Bravo, Robin Koehler, the next block set of the Patchwork Almanac by Scott Hansen…but wait, there’s more and opening the pages of the magazine will reveal all.
This issue’s GenQ 25 showcases in-the-hoop embroidery & quilting designs, including work from Sarah Vedeler, Lisa Archer of Pickle Pie Designs, Hoop Sisters and more. These projects are such great fun and really increase the possibilities for how we can enjoy needle, thread and fabric!
We also reveal the winners of our Sew Myself Doll Challenge co-sponsored by Sizzix. The dolls delighted us, and we think you’ll fall in love, too. Here’s a taste–our Sew Myself runners-up:
Aren’t these wonderful? And so are the winners, but you’ll have to wait for the big reveal in the actual issue.
Speaking of revealing, our Summer issue also lets you check out the adventures of a high-fashion tailor–Erin Hogan-Braker of 7th Bone Tailoring. The pics on her Facebook feed document a talent for tailoring that is reminiscent of the days before mass apparel manufacturing. Erin can literally take her machine anywhere to make alterations for the rich, famous, and fashion-oriented.
We’ve got our regular treats, too, such as Slosh, a little sewing machine tlc, Notions, and all the usual features. We also open up a door on our insider staff communication with a slice of our always-going staff convo on Facebook Messenger. The topic? Quilters’ porn.
If you see us wandering the aisles at Spring Market next week in Salt Lake City, be sure to give us a shout!
Quilt. Sew. Live. Breathe.
