Welcome back to the GenQ/WeSew2 Gifty Kid’s Holiday Sewalong! If you are just joining us, we are doing a weekly Sewalong for stitchy kiddos! Last week, we made Cup Cozies and felt envelopes – perfect for adding a gift card from your fave coffee shop and giving to teachers and friends. This week’s gifty idea is a great choice if you have a bit more sewing experience. (Sewing teens, I’m looking at you!)
One thing we love about this project is that it reuses a favorite t-shirt and turns a basic hoodie into something unique. (See above.) We used a square shape in the instructions, however you can stitch any shape you want. My son made several of these as gifts one year and each of his friends got a different shape. His girlfriend got a heart and he made himself a star with the front of the same shirt – so they matched. He even got really creative and made one a skull and crossbones. Make a football or a basketball (you can get really creative with the stitching here to make it look like the lines on a basketball!) Really, once you get the hang of it, there are no limits!
If you are nervous or just want an accurate template, try using a dinner plate to create a circle. We always try to make the projects adaptable to your skill level. 🙂
So, off you go! The instructions are downloadable so you can print them or save them for later! DIY Hoodies – Instructions
