Spring is a good time to visit the Texas Quilt Museum with three new quilt exhibits:
Sue Brenner Circling the Square: Sue Brenner, a quilter, lecturer, and judge, shares 3 dozen of her geometric, Amish inspired quilts. Sue paints and prints most of her fabric.

Antique Log Cabin Quilts from the International Quilt Festival Collection. The ten quilts in this collection honor the traditional log cabin quilt in the variety of imagination by quilt makers.

Vintage Apps: Applique Block Quilts from the International Quilt Festival Collection. “The appliqué block is one of the most traditional sources of design. These nine quilts from the collection of International Quilt Festival – many of which have never been shown publicly – showcase one of the very foundations of quilting.”

The Texas Quilt Museum is located in LaGrange, Texas and is a must stop for every quilter.

Not fade away

The Quilt Alliance has two upcoming events: Sharing Quilt Stories in the Digital Age, July 17 – 18, 2015 in Herndon, VA and Quilters Take Manhattan, September 25 – 27, 2015. Ricky Tims is the keynote speaker at this years event which will include behind the scenes tours of the Met and the American Folk Art Museum, a tour of the garment district and more. And don’t forget their 9th Annual Quilt Contest with the theme of Animals We Love! This contest is a great exercise in creativity and way to support the Quilt Alliance.

Fans had a blast watching three teams of teachers/quilters led by Debbie Caffrey, Gyleen X. Fitzgerald (Defending Champion) and Anita Grossman Solomon face off to create the “tastiest” small quilt possible in just two hours. This fun event took place on Friday, March 27 from 6-8 p.m at International Quilt Festival in Chicago. Audiencemembers participated in a  Show & Tell while watching the festivities. And best of all, there were tons of door prizes, including the top prize for the night…a BERNINA sewing machine! Debbie Caffrey’s team reigned supreme as they took the title once again.
