Playdate: Summer Star

Just in time for Mother’s Day (in the U.S. at least, but we bet your mom would like something made from it any time of the year), we have our May block brought to you by April Rosenthal of Prairie Grass Patterns.  April is one of the nicest people ever you meet from time to time, and you wonder why your mother-in-law can’t be more like her.

Here’s what April had to say about her block:

“I designed this block for a friend of mine  for our quilting bee.  She had requested stars, or log cabins, or Greek crosses, so I combined all three in a fun little way. She sent the Happy Mochi Yum Yum fabric (the green and yellow) and I threw in the rest. Especially the orange. I pretty much can’t do a project without orange somewhere–it adds the soul. ;)”

So go ahead and make three blocks, add some sashing and a border,  and wrap this baby up for your Mom or someone else’s Mom this weekend. You know the saying…If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. Well, she can’t help but be happy with this block!
