Playdate: St. Nick's Star Block

It’s all about the light, isn’t it?

No matter which flavor of holiday you savor in December, light is a major theme or mode of celebration. And that’s how our resident Cabana Boy and designer Scott Hansen (also of Blue Nickel Studios) has chosen to channel his Santa-ness for today’s Playdate: into a block of other-worldly starlight.

Just imagine this mod beauty hanging over the North Pole as Santa waits for the valet elves to bring the sleigh around and load it up for travel. Tradition with a little blast of edginess. (Say, that kinda describes how we like our eggnog. Ever tried it with a splash of Amaretto and a drizzle of Kahlua?)

Now, on the off chance you can add one more thing to your sew-list before Dec. 25 and try this block, don’t forget to share pictures of your St. Nick’s Star on our Holiday Block Flickr Group. And click here to download a printable PDF of the instructions.

And if you’re just now finding time to indulge in some holiday sewing, here are the links to our other fun holiday blocks by Scott:

Halloween
Thanksgiving
Hanukkah
Solstice

Stay tuned for next week’s holiday block, which honors Kwanzaa.
