Block Builder is one of our fave  features. Seeing the creativity of our readers is incredible! We’re on a bit of a tight turnaround time for the September/October issue, however, so there’s not much time to submit your version of this to our community editor Scott Hansen: scott@generationqmagazine.com

And to inspire and encourage you to play with us, we are having a giveaway! We’ve hit the shelves to see what we can share and found these two books, 1000 Quilt Inspirations: Colorful and Creative Designs for Traditional, Modern and Art Quilts by Sandra Sider and By the Block: 18 Surprisingly Simple Quilts by Siobhan Rogers.

What to do? Print the block builder sketch leading off this post, and create your original block design, adding lines and colors. You do NOT need to actually sew a block, although some people do. And some have even turned their Block Builder into original quilts that have gotten published in GenQ. Yep. It can happen. To have a chance at winning one of the books, just email a jpg of your original Block Builder sketch to Scott by June 22. We’ll gather the names, do a random drawing and announce a winner on or about July 1. Simple as that!
