Hi, it’s one of your northern quilters dropping in to be a guest blogger again! I am the president of the Canadian Quilters Association/Association Canadienne de la Courtepointe (CQA/ACC) (www.canadianquilter.com/index.php) and I’d love to tell you what we quilters are up to in Canada. Some months ago, I told you about our annual national conference and showcased quilts from our National Juried Show. (Here’s a link, in case you missed that post: www.njs.canadianquilter.com/gallery.php.)
Now I’d like to share with you about a milestone for CQA/ACC. We are launching our first ever cross-Canada quilt tour next month! We are soooo excited! Not only do we have 38 award- winning quilters from our National Juried Show behind the creation of the tour quilts, but we’re also going to support a great cause. All monies raised from the sale of tour quilts and related greeting cards will go to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
The theme for the quilt show is “It’s Time For Colour.” The exhibit quilts are all 12” x 16”, and celebrate color in a variety of techniques and styles, including appliqué, embroidery, piecing and other fiber embellishment techniques. The 38 quilts will be divided into two tours of 19 quilts each that will crisscross Canada hitting most of our provinces from January 2015 through early June 2015. The touring exhibits will even find their way to Inuvik, one of our northernmost communities in the Northwest Territories.
As the exhibits travel, the 12” x 16” quilts–as well as greeting cards with images of the quilts—are available for sale. Sold quilts remain with the traveling show. The final stop on the tour will be a combined display at the (CQA/ACC) annual national conference in Alberta in June 2015. (For more on this event, follow this link– www.canadianquilter.com/events/quilt-canada-2015.php .) After that, the tour quilts will be sent to their new owners.
Want to see them? Here are some of the beautiful, colorful quilts in this ground-breaking exhibit:

For more details on the “Colour” tour, plus images of all the tour quilts, check out our blog at cqacanadianquilting.blogspot.ca/p/blog-page.html .
At this writing, we have already sold 14 of the 38 quilts. We are so thrilled to promote quilting right across our country and at the same time, help out children who need some wishes granted to make their little lives better.
We’d love to share our artistry with you! Please take a few minutes to check out our gallery of quilts from our national cross-country quilt tour. http://cqacanadianquilting.blogspot.ca/p/blog-page.html
