We Sew 2 at International Quilt Festival

by tracy on June 28, 2013

What happens when you bring a GenQ junior editor to International Quilt Festival in Chicago and set her loose with a camera? We wanted to find out. So we gave Cydney Mooney a camera and a media pass, and let her roam. And you know what we learned? She comes home with more stuff than her mama!

Here is her recap of International Quilt Festival 2013:

Hi. My name is Cydney Mooney and I am going to tell you what I did at Quilt Festival. First I saw Nyan Cat and Piano Cat Mini quilts.

Then we went to see my mom’s friends and took a class.

It worked!

Mom & me with our projects.

We took some pictures and ate ice cream. After getting too cold to eat more, I got a lot of stuff – including patterns and fabric. We went to a place called Dinky Baby. They sell baby doll patterns that are sewn and stitched. I liked a baby that had black hair and very colorful pj’s.

Then I saw three babies in a pouch – it was a boy, a girl and a girl. They looked like they were wrapped in blankets.

(Mom’s Note: The owner gave Cydney a pattern to try out, so stay tuned for a pattern review.)

Then we went to a shop that had two miniature chairs with a Teddy bear on the right.

I found a company that had great patterns. I especially liked the bear and the Giraffe.

Then we saw a quilt called Northern Lights. It was cool.

I also brought my Lalaloopsy doll. She enjoyed it. She saw a lot of quilts, took a lot of breaks and a lot of pictures.

My favorite quilt was this one. It had a cherry blossom tree blowing leaves. I liked it because I always like Chinese and Japanese culture.

My picture didn’t come out too well…

I enjoyed going to Festival. It was super-fun and I hope I can do it again.

Good job Cydney! I’d say she is a keeper. Can she do Long Beach too? I’ll be at that one.
Thanks.
