The second issue of GenQ is making its way to quilt shops now (many of them already have them, so be sure to check this list for a shop in your area) and in its pages we have a whole article about pincushions! Yep, we love a stitchy project we can handle in an afternoon or two and pincushions fit the bill. Their size makes them perfect as elements of decor and whimsy as well as a practical place to put your pins, and we’ve seen some adorable designs out there. Carrie Bloomston, of SUCH Designs, created this funky, punky Pinhead Pincushion for our fall issue, and we’re giving you the pattern right here! Just click anywhere down below to download the entire pattern as a printable PDF.
And if you stitch up one of these punk rock pin holders, we wanna see it! Upload pictures of your Pinheads to our Pins Go Punk Flickr group so we can see just how you pierced her!

I’m having a little trouble getting the templates to print out full size on letter size paper…. they just don’t fit!
any suggestions?
Looks like I need to re-upload the PDF. I produced the PDF as spreads instead of inividual pages. Give me until Saturday morning to fix if you can and then all should be well! I’ll let you know when I have the problem resolved.
I have a fix posted. Download the PDF again and it should print page by page. Print at 100% – it will be smaller than an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper because I use our magazine template size when I create these.
Yay! She looks so great and I love your photograph of her. My wittle punk rock girl. I am just tickled pink that you featured this project in your awesome Q-niverse! Love it. Thank you. cb
This pincushion is hilarious!!! And very inspirational as well….I have all those earrings just hanging there…..
Thank you so much for the pinhead pincushion pattern! I have been a long-time punk rock fan and love making needle-sculpted dolls so this was just the ticket for me. BTW, I <3 the new mag! I'm looking forward to more…
