Needlebook Challenge Results

by melissa on February 8, 2012

Reader challenge? Of course! Interactive project? Definitely! If you’ve been following us for any length of time, you know that we’re all about the fun and participation here at GenQ.  We are utterly and completely enthusiastic about getting involved with you Q-Bies in challenges and projects, but we have learned one thing: Don’t do any during the holidays. Sigh.

That’s why you needlebook makers have been waiting patiently to see the results of the Needlebook Challenge we embarked upon about a month ago with authors Adrienne Smitke and Cassie Barden of Everyday Handmade fame (Martingale, 2011). We asked them and our staff to weigh in on their fave needlebooks and that’s what we’ve got for you here. They are so cute, and so simple to make!

Well, here’s the reward. Despite the holiday crush–and the New Year’s stupor–many Q-Bies did find time to create some fine needlebook candidates. And we’re pleased to be able to share the winners with you.

First Place

Fire Hydrant by MC Simard

Second Place

Needle in a Haystack by Judy Smitke

Third place

Japanese Girl by Berene Campbell

Our winners will each receive a copy of Everyday Handmade by Adrienne Smitke and Cassie Barden, with some other goodies thrown in for extra smiles. Thanks to everyone who participated. (Now, isn’t felt fun??)

Yippee! Thanks for hosting the contest. Look forward to my fabulous book. Something to celebrate on a rainy Vancouver day.

Spectacular! I like those tiny little blanket stitches on the fire hydrant, and that the hydrant isn’t confined inside the arc. But, just for pure fun, Needle in a Haystack – I laughed even before I read the title! And isn’t that little Japanese Girl soooo cute?
Great job all!!

Thanks! I had a great time with this challenge and have been using my little needlebook every day since I made it. Really look forward to getting into some projects from Everyday Handmade.
