So in general, we focus on quilting. But we admit that we’ve got more than a touch of C.A.D.D. (Creative’s Attention Deficit Disorder) and that often leads us down the path of Those Other Addictions. One of our most popular alternative fixes is knitting. From scarves to socks (only some of us are adept enough with the needles to make adequate heels here…) we can definitely get around anything that makes this sometime pastime easier to engage. In walks Clover’s Takumi Combo. See, with us being here today, gone tomorrow, back next week knitters, we get understandably frustrated when we have to track down yet another set of bamboo knitting needles in a smaller/larger size than what we have on hand. With Takumi’s cool new set, we’ve got everything we need in one pretty little package. Yes, it’s a little pricey. But we promise you won’t have to run out and find that weird sized set of needles on the fly again. They are all here. And yes, these needles and tips are actually made for circular needles, but we’ve stumbled through a couple of scarves made with circular needles when regular might have sufficed, and our scarves have survived and thrived for the effort. So we say tap that Mother’s Day gifty for this one. It might just work….

For several years now, C&T Publishing has produced some wonderful products that go beyond their established selection of quilt and craft books. From pens to paper products, interfacing and more, C&T has led the publishing pack into supporting materials for their books. And their Quilter’s Vinyl is yet another offering in the mix and one we’re happy to welcome back in a newer, thinner and friendlier form. The newer version of Quilter’s Vinyl now comes in precut packs (allowing us to stop searching for those bolts our LQS doesn’t carry) and boasts a thinner size at 0.2 mil. What can you use this for? Well, that’s kind of limitless. Quilter’s Vinyl started as the product of choice for appliquérs who use it for layouts. But it’s also perfect for those of us addicted to making bags, wallets and other personal objects that might benefit from some see-through magic. Having a package on hand means you can always experiment with it to find what its best use is for YOUR creativity.

Maybe you could glue your magnet into your bags. Or maybe you could make pockets to slip the magnets into for your totes. Still better, you can pick up a set of the Invisible Sew In Magnet Set and simply stitch around the “invisible” border holding the magnets in place and voila! You’re all packed and ready to go. It’s yet another one of those “duh” moments for notions designers. In case you’ve forgotten, the old way of handling magnetic openers for purses andbags was to purchase the prong sets of magnets, stab them through the bag’s flaps and hope they stayed in place. Some of us are still doing this. Try this instead and see how simple life becomes.

More great stuff!
The sew-in magnets look interesting. The problem I had when I made a name tag as a gift for a friend, was that the magnet stuck to the throat plate of my machine. Errrgh! (I managed, finally tho’)
