Block Builder
Have you grown weary of your Sudoku brain puzzles? Tired of the same old Crossword riddles? Bored out of your cotton-lovin’ mind with Jumble and Word Search dilemmas? Have we got a game for you! It’s time you tried our Generation Q Block Builder Game! And you can soooo do this!
In every issue we give you a creative quilt-related challenge, Block Builder, to keep those little grey cells in your head churning. We give you a starter block with some lines or shapes already in place, and you use those lines and shapes as a starting point to make up a brand-spanking new quilt block. Add your own lines and shapes–and a little color–and send it to me at scott@generationqmagazine.com. Then we pick our favorites and print them two issues later (it plays like Hopscotch with each issue having the challenge for the issue after next and the winners from two issues back). So simple!
Our current starter block is this:
Print up a couple of the starter block pdf’s from hereand have at it! Get some friends to play along, too, or have your kids do their thing on a few sheets. (It’ll keep them occupied for a few milliseconds and you get a chance to appear in our next issue…. win-win in our book!) Entries using this sketch are due December 20, if you’d like your creation considered for use in our March-April issue. Just send your finished entry to Scott@generationqmagazine.com.
If you are still puzzled by how to play our quiltoid Block Builder challenge, check out this how-to post on our website.
Who knows? We might like your block so much that we want you to build it into a whole Playdate project for an upcoming issue! It has happened already to more than one lucky reader, and it could happen to you!
