JAKE FINCH, PUBLISHER
It’s an old story, but completely true. In 1987, the year I got married (yes, I was a child bride), I traded my credit cards for a sewing machine with my husband. Today I have five machines and more cards than I should, but I also have an incredible job where I get to indulge my passion for fiber with my journalistic passion for words and images. What could be better? Maybe chocolate and snuggling, but only on certain days! I started on the machine by teaching myself how to make clothing. (You should see those first attempts…) An accidental move onto quilting became an obsession lasting now more than, gulp, 22 years. (I swear I was a child bride!) And I love the modern movement!
I’ve authored five books on quilting, served as editor for a couple of quilt mags and in my spare time, I find myself being raised by my precocious 13-year-old Samantha (who will never be a child bride, but who is already a quilter) and hubby, Stephen, in Southern California. I can be found at jake@generationqmagazine.com.

Looking good Jake! This is really exciting – and of course – I’m telling all my quilting buds about it!
I’m excited to add this to my reader. I’ve been needing something new. Great job on starting something that is really, really, needed.

Hi Jake,
My daughter Amy is considering working in the area of preventing human trafficking with the A21 campaign or Not For Sale or a similar organization. If she does it will mean leaving the area and I may need to make her a quilt. Her taste runs to Steam Punk, not full on SP but trending toward the style. Any ideas for patterns or fabric lines? a post I might have missed?
Thanks,
Jayna
Hi Jake,
Can you direct me to info for advertising with you guys, as well as ordering the awesome mag for the store?
Can’t wait,
Lauren
I would like to get some information concerning advertising in your publication. Would it be possible for someone to call me so that I can discuss my business to make sure that it is a good fit. My phone is: 561-357-8300.
Thank you.
Eleanor
Great work Jake….very proud to know you!
I enjoyed looking over your site and look forward to getting my hands on the real deal!
Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your debut issue.
When I first opened it, I wondered what I had ordered, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that I would be anxiously looking forward to you next issue.
I’ve looked, but can’t find where to sign up for a subscription. Is there a yearly subscription yet?
Looking forward to the next issue.

Hi,
I’m not sure who visited my booth at the Long Beach Show.
She introduced magazine ” Generation Q” & I placed 15 issues on the spot. but no news at all until today.
Please let me know how’s going on?

Jake,
I received the “first” issue in the mail yesterday. Thanks for getting it out so quickly.
In the Fall issue, “Pins Go Punk!” – I can’t find the pattern at your website. I’ve hit all the links at the top. There isn’t a Search box. Is it at one of the social media icons?
Hi Jake,
Thanks so much for putting my quilt store on your Gen. Q site as a Georgia store that carries Gen. Q.
Unfortunately the address there is my home address, not my business address. I’d hate to have folks driving to my house to find the quilt shop. If there’s any way that you can change the info. please change it to the following:
Sewcial Studio Sewing & Quilt Shop
160 Tracy St.
Mercury A.I.R. Studios, Studio 5
Athens, GA 30605
http://www.sewcialstudio.com
Sorry for the confusion. Because we are in an art studio we have no “mailing” address at the shop, so I have to use my home address for shipping.
Happy Holidays, Jake.
Warmy,
Anita Heady
Sorry for the mistake, Anita. It’s fixed and up there, and also I updated the tab “Where to Buy GenQ” on the top bar. Have a great holiday!
Hi Jake,
I’m opening a Quilt Shop in Jan 2013. One of our prospective suggested us to carry your magazines in our shop. Please let me know how that works to carry the magazine in our shop. We would love to sell your magazine in our shop.
Our shop:
Suzzie’s Quilt Shop
10370 Portsmouth Rd
Manassas Va 20109
Please email me at susys@verizon.net or call me at 703-368-3867.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks,
Susy
Sent my sister a year’s subscription of your magazine in March and now after two issues, she was notified that it is expiring. I was hoping of subscribing as well, but will reconsider. Hope you can rectify this.
