Spring Quilt Market 2015 is over and done (and we’re all taking a deep breath before starting the prep for Fall Market!). Jake, Melissa, Tracy, Bev, Melissa K, and Jamie are all safely ensconced in their homes, most likely catching up on sleep from the short nights and long days in Minneapolis. With visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads. (No, no, wait. Wrong season. We’ll bet it’s fabric they’re dreaming of.)
So, we asked our Market team to share their top three observations from Market. And please note that some of them can’t count.
From editor-in-chief Melissa Thompson Maher: Melon and coral are still big, and indigo is coming on strong. Stripes, dandelions and anchors are popular new motifs. The Southwest design influence continues, and miniaturization is big.
From publisher Jake Finch: Midnight blue, more hand stitching, Hoffman Batiks by Latifa Saafir.
From our mascot Stashy (Bev Mabry): Paisley is still hot. There are more men designers with nice fabrics that feel good and aren’t plaids and stripes. Bill Kerr has a new line for Andover and I really liked Peter Horjus’ line of retro- looking men’s designs for Anna Griffin. Lots of new designers. Oh and Shannon’s Double Gauze is great for baby stuff. There were fewer cutesy kids’ prints and turquoise was abundant on the floor.
From ad manager Melissa Kanovsky: Navy, stripes, lots of stripes,
From ad manager Jamie Mueller: Hoffman modern batiks, Lecien fabrics from Japan, Tula Pink’s wide backs–108″ wide!
From associate editor Tracy Mooney: Paisley; black and white and gold fabric collections. Coloring books and colorable fabrics are also huge!
Watch this space next week for more from Market!

It’s always so cool to see the newest stuff! Thanks for sharing!
(A side note, but I find the gray font color here very hard on my eyes.)
