New Ad Duo Joins Our Q-niverse!

You all just think it’s springtime, with those daffodils, hyacinths and neon Peeps (and in some areas, gloppy-wet spring snow). Nah, it’s really Christmas, and here’s what just dropped into the GenQ stocking: Two energetic, outgoing, whip-smart salespeople to help spread the Generation Q message among our industry pals. Meet Melissa Kanovsky and Jamie Mueller!

Jamie Mueller

Jamie Mueller

A bunch of you probably already know Jamie Mueller, who lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with her husband Jonathan and son Jared. She and her mom, Jill Rimes, are the talent behind Sunflower QUILTS, which retails its custom patterns and unique notions (do you know about their Thread Cutter for chain piecing?) through local quilt shops.

Jamie’s mom taught her to sew at a very early age. After graduating from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, her focus shifted to quilting, and she became partners with her mother at Sunflower QUILTS (www.sunflower-quilts.com). She also does longarm quilting and makes custom quilts (and occasionally trolls the show floor during Fall Market take-down, looking for furniture that needs a new home. Yeah, get her to tell you that story!).  You can reach Jamie at Jamie@generationqmagazine.com. She’ll mostly be handling the Western part of the country.

Melissa Kanovsky

Melissa Kanovsky

Melissa Kanovsky has always quilted and stitched, ever since she can remember. She learned to cross-stitch during a rainy beach vacation when she was 10 and remembers choosing fabric with her Grandma Rivette, who loved to make Melissa and her sibs crazy quilts with corduroy, machine applique, and free-motion quilting. The family quilt gene runs deep: Melissa’s widowed great-grandmother also supported her 13 children by making and selling quilts and hand-hooked rugs in New York City. When Melissa visits her mom, they spend every visit together at the sewing machine and in quilt shops. She even taught her daughters their colors by taking them to quilt shows and quilt shops.

Melissa has a Bachelor of Arts in English from University of Kansas and lives in Westchester, just north of New York City, with her husband and their five teenagers. In what free time they have, she likes to hike, camp, read and drink Paso Robles wine. (Because, you know, teenagers.) She’s got a strong sales background in other industries, and is very excited to merge her love of the cloth with her talent for helping clients get their message out. She’ll mostly be handling the Eastern part of the country, and you can reach her at melissa.k@generationqmagazine.com.

We are crawling out of our skin with delight at having Jamie and Melissa join the GenQ team! Many of you will begin hearing from them very soon, as they reach out to get acquainted and find out how we can help our industry suppliers communicate better with our Q-Bies. Please help us make them feel welcome!
