Omigosh! We’ve got chills, and we’re not talking the flu. Today, we’re pulling the curtain on our brand-spanking new website!
Our old site served us well, but we all grow and change. It was time for a major facelift, and the “new us” has so much more to offer…
- Improved and simplified purchasing!
- Easier to find Playdates and web features of Playdates in our print edition!
- Better navigation!
- And the ability to add more features as we go along!
A HUGE thank you goes to our facelift wizard, Sarah Bailey of Spun Monkey, who helped us with our new look and functionality. Yay, Sarah! (And we’re telling you, People. If you’re looking for this kind of help, Sarah is it! She’s reasonable, professional, oh, and she’s a quilter! What more could you want?)
And our heartfelt thanks to all of you who played along in the comment game, giving us tons of new ideas and ways to continue improving what we do. We have combed through these and found many great ideas that we guarantee you’ll see in the pages of GenQ later this year. We also found ourselves amazed at how much you’re enjoying what we offer. Might sound weird, but when you’re creating the content week after week, you start forgetting how it reads to “new” eyes. You have refreshed our creative spirits!
and now for the prize part…
Yeah, enough with the talky talk, right? It’s time for the Keeper of All Fun Bag Giveaway. Drawn at random from the 200+ people who commented on our blog post on Jan. 1, the lucky winner will receive a fat, beautiful bag o’ quilty stuff, including these cool prizes from the GenQ magic closet:
- Books
- Fabric
- Patterns
- Other stitching goodness
- And a one year’s subscription to GenQ! (Which we basically never give away, so this is really special.)
For a lucky 10 other commenters, we’re sending you a GenQ SwatchBuddies kit, our Wonky Star pin and a copy of our very first issue, which never did land on the newsstands. If for some reason you actually have that issue (Marcy) we’ll negotiate with you for something else.
Our big winner is: Brandy Mirly!!!!!
And our 10 runners-up are:
- Nicola Belisle
- Linda Brown
- Mary Chick
- Kela Weathers Curtis
- Paula DiMattei
- Sue Guday
- Sandra Lawson
- Marcy Legardere
- Pat Pike
- Linda Schiffer
We have your email addresses and will be reaching out to you in the next couple of days. Please answer ASAP so we can send everything out at once.
Thanks again for being on this grand quilty journey with us, and for helping us grow GenQ!
Quilt. Sew. Live. Breathe.

IHard to read site. Grey? Also type face has no serifs and is incredibly small. My old eyes aren’t happy. Good luck

Hi Anne:
We work within a template and have no control over the type or font or the colors, though honestly we like the look. BUT, on YOUR computer, you can change your screen to increase the size of what you’re seeing. I work on a Mac, and I hit the Command+ keys to make my screen bigger. I don’t remember what it is on a PC but it’s there. My eyes are heading down the same road, but I never have trouble when I make the screen bigger. Thanks for checking us out!-Jake

I agree Anne. My eyes aren’t happy either. I have already increased the screen size on my IPad, but am
still uncomfortable. LOL, I can barely read what I just wrote. Yikes!

Looking really good!!! I’ve fallen off the radar a little but plan to get back at it this year and play along with GenQ. Always look forward to each issue. Wishing you the best in 2015.

It’s like a new baby, I’ve been watching you grow.

This is really a nice and clean look! I enlarged the print like you suggested and found it to be easier. Middle age adjustments are so fun! Whatever it takes. Right?
