Our Fall-Winter 2016 cover quilt, Earth by Collin Fellows, is patterned for you in a tidy 40” x 40” size, but yes, Grasshopper, we have specs for two bigger sizes of this stunner, each made with slightly bigger strips of fabric.

Following are measurements/yardage for making 80” x 80” and 100” x 100” versions. Both sizes are made exactly like the original 40” x 40”. The key differences:

  • Having more finished 20” strips of fusible interfacing covered nicely with fabric squares.  For the 80” version, you will need 12 continuous yards of fusible. For the 100” version, you will need 15 yards.
  • Cutting squares larger. The 80” version requires 2” squares of fabric, and the 100” version takes 3” squares.

Here’s a chart that gives you upsized quantities of strips and yardage for the bigger sizes. Please note that the yardage quoted is generous.

Of course you’ll also need to upsize the grid you place beneath your fusible yardage, but after that, Collin’s assembly technique is the same as described in our Fall-Winter 2016 issue, no matter the size of the quilt you are making.

What’s that? You don’t have our Fall-Winter issue? It’s on newsstands now, or to purchase a copy, just use this link.

Quilt. Sew. Live. Breathe.

I was trying to order this issue and would also like to have a subscription, but it is telling me I don’t have a valid shipping address. Not sure why. Please help.
