Between the Covers: Generation Q September/October Issue

September often feels like the beginning of the year. After all, Back-to-School is here, the weather starts changing, and we start to get ready for winter. You know what that means? Yep. Quilts.

Hey, you’ve caught us in a lie! For us, quilts are year-round events. We quilters can find any reason, excuse, event, cause, birthday, unbirthday whatever to make a quilt top. We’d bet money (and win) that most quilters have at least a half-dozen UFOs (Unfinished Objects) in their sewing place.

Why is that? Well, maybe it’s because we’re stumped on how to quilt them. We’ve asked some of our fave Q-bies this very question and we’re giving you their incredible answers, in a special feature called, Quilt as Desired: 8 Quilters + 1 Block = Amazing! A couple of quilters made vids that we have links for and then we have pictures. Lots of pictures.

Just as this issue hits the stands and mailboxes we’d like to congratulate Days for Girls! (See this issue’s Piece Corps: Days for Girls-Stitching That Gives the Gift of Time.) We celebrate with you, Days for Girls, and your A-Mazing win of $50,000 with #OperationGirlChallenge. Q-bies this is one rockin’ gift!

Christina Cameli offers quilters tips for practicing machine quilting. We love tips from quilters who like to practice, practice, practice their way to QuiltCon. Christina shows us some very simple and effective ways to change up our machine quilting designs.

In this edition of Quarters we meet Jennifer Moore, fab mom, and designer in chief of Monaluna. Here we get a peek into the fresh, modern style dining room complete with a small library of books and a place for her little one at the head of the table.
