In a parallel universe, we’re fat, jolly, have whiskers and wear a fuzzy red suit… ‘cuz we love giving stuff away! And that’s just what we’re going to do today.
Emily Cier’s Pixel Play Giveaway
To celebrate Emily’s latest book, Pixel Play (C & T Publishing, 2012), we asked you to tell us what favorite image/scene/memory/photo you’d put into fabri-pixels. From Emily, mistress of the Carolina Patchworks blog, the randomly selected winner will receive a copy of Pixel Play, wrapped in a surprise box that will have other treats. From GenQ, the winner will also receive Issues 1 and 2 of GenQ, plus 3 FQs from our magic fabric closet.
And the winner is….
Jane S., who wants to pixellate her pig. Here’s what she had to say: “I’d pixelize a photo of the pig we had when I was a teenager. In the photo he is eating some fruit that had fallen off the plum tree, and he is smacking his lips and looks like he is laughing with joy! We’ve had quite a few pigs since then but I will always love Otis.”
So, Jane, give us a shout and let us know your mailing address. If you’re from outside the United States, we’ll also need your phone number for shipping forms. (And look for your prize in mid-November, once the Quilt Market fog has cleared.)
Julie Herman’s Skip the Borders! Giveaway
We also helped our pal Julie Herman (of Jaybird Quilts fame) launch her first book, Skip The Borders! (Martingale, 2012) with a blog tour that just ended. To vie for a free e-book, we asked you to tell us if you’ve ever gone commando…on your quilts, that is. And we’ll pull two happy names out of the random hat. Both winners will receive a free e-book version of Skip the Borders!. The winners are:
Carla Esser Lake—“Sometimes I think ‘commando’ might be my middle name. I enjoy the creative process more than I enjoy reading and following directions. Are the results ever perfect? Not really. But I have a lot of fun!”
Patti—“Umm, borderless? Does this mean I have to actually finish one? Guess it does, but so far I haven’t. Sorry, but I am new to this (even though I’m older than, well, almost anyone I know in the quilting world so far). But I would really love this book and would treasure it and finish something.”
So, Carla and Patti, get in touch and we’ll make arrangements to send you the link to your free e-book. As we mentioned before, please grant us a little post-Market grace, and we’ll get this to you mid-November.
And now for our own giveaway…
Think you’d like to have this tasty jelly roll of Simply Color by V & Co for Moda Fabrics. Well, you’ve got a shot!
Here’s how: You might have heard a little buzz in the blogosphere about people going to Houston, that mecca of autumnal quilt madness. Well, most of us here at GenQ are Market-bound in a few days, and we know a lot of you are, too.
So tell us: Are you going to Market? Or do you travel elsewhere in the world on quilty/stitchy business? Comment on this post and tell us about a recent or upcoming fabric-fondling trip. (And don’t just stop with the “where.” Go on and brag a little about what you did or what you’re going to do once you get there, because a little self-expression is good for the soul, sweet pea!)
We’ll announce a winner on Friday, Oct. 19.
Ho, ho, ho!
