Our Web Goddess, the Great and Powerful Megan, has been busy behind the bytes at GenQ lately. She has brilliantly overcome the roadblocks our website likes to torture her with and has created a couple of new features we’d like to shout out here.
Without further ado, may we present…a shopping cart. (Insert cheers and fist pumps.) Okay, so this might not sound like much to you Q-bies, but for us, it’s bigtime.
And with said shopping cart, we are now able to offer for sale Issue 2, Fall 2012, of Generation Q Magazine’s print issue, with pre-entered postage for the U.S. AND Canada!!! That’s right–no more waiting for Jake to invoice you through PayPal for each Canuck order. (This does not apply to other countries as shipping varies too greatly to list everyone. So if you live in the Great Down Under or Across the Pond, you still have to email Jake for shipping at jake@generationqmagazine.com.) And Issue 1, which is NOT available on newsstands, will also remain on sale until they all leave Jake’s garage where they are stored.
Here’s even better news for some of you: We are now offering Generation Q for AUTO-SHIPMENT on Issues 2, 3 and 4. This is as close to a subscription as we will get this early into our lifespan. Auto-ship means that you pre-pay for the Issue 2 (which is already available), Issue 3 and Issue 4 PLUS the shipping of each issue and as we get each of them into our hands, we’ll immediately mail it out to you. So if you don’t live near a quilt shop that carries us (find that list here) or don’t want to remember to search for the latest and greatest of our printed efforts, you’ll have the option to receive GenQ in your mailbox, and yes we can accommodate international orders, but again, you’ll have to reach out to Jake for that info. Next year, when we transition into a bi-monthly magazine (every other month-six times a year) then we’ll revisit the auto-shipping and how to coordinate that. But for now we’re set up and ready to go for Issues 2, 3 and 4. So come on down!
So, sooner or later, you wonderfully insightful Q-bies were gonna figure out that we ain’t perfect and it’s happened. To be honest, a couple of times. As of today, we will post our boo-boos on our website so that we don’t pass our brain gas onto you all. Here’s our first: In Scott Hansen’s Hugs & Kisses quilt pattern (cover quilt) in Issue 1, there was a cutting mistake in the block instructions that ends up creating twice as many as you need. What we’ve done, and will do from here on out, is to repost the ENTIRE pattern under our Oops button on the website. That way you don’t have to struggle through a flawed pattern and an explanation of how to fix it. We hope this makes the correction as simple as possible for you all to handle ‘cuz we don’t want you making GenQ voodoo dolls from your pattern mishaps. FYI, as we encounter and correct our flaws, we’ll print a notice in the next print issue of GenQ and also announce it on Facebook. So if you’re not a Facebook “liker” for us, you might want to consider it. And, of course, the corrected pattern PDFs will always be found under Oops.
Okay, back to work now. We’ve got another issue to get out the door already! Tune in tomorrow when we have our second installment of Improvisational Piecing up here for you Q-bies.
