Post of the Week:
Melissa found this post by Angela Walters last week, and we all agreed that the combination of quilts and family reunions were a winning combination. We love how Angela’s husband’s Grandpa started this quilty tradition of luring relatives with quilts as prizes rather than the usual family secret recipe smorgasbord (although we’re sure there is plenty of that going on at this reunion too!) And what we love even more is how the family is passing on the passion of quilts and quilt making to the next generations. We are rather fond of the whole generational ties of quilting and family around here. Must have a little something to do with our name.
Quilt of the week:
Scott had found this quilt by Rachel before Melissa found Angela’s family reunion post, and originally we loved it for the numerous random greys in the backdrop of this homage to the late 20th century instant photography icon, the Polaroid print. It made us think of a fantastic party with our favorite fabric friends. (We know you have some prints you call friends and would invite to your own private party; admit it!) But what really amazed us was how well this quilt fit with Angela’s family reunion post. What about getting all those photos from last year’s family reunion and printing them on fabric? You could even fill in with a few of your favorite fabric buddies as well.
If you ever have a post or quilt that you think is worthy of our quilt or post of the week, feel free to send a link with the subject line of “Saturday Special Suggestions” to scott [at] generationqmagazine.com tell us why you chose it, and we’ll see if we can fit it in. Remember we only have so many Saturdays, so not every suggestion will make it in, but we’d love to see what is rocking your week and if we can share it with the world!
