Quilt of the Week
This quilt is Super-Octane-Orangified in our opinion. Ten years ago, you would never have seen a quilt like this, and we are so psyched that it is here now. And so timely with this year’s Pantone color of the year! You can read the whole story of the inspiration for the quilt here, including a link to the original that caught Amanda’s eye. Scott is smitten with the variety of tonal and solids all mixed together but still one overall color; he says it makes his heart sing. And we love the back just as much as the front. We are thankful for Amanda’s sharing that bit too. You can make your own in your favorite color by picking up the pattern directly from Amanda here. Jake wants one in red , Melissa wants one in aqua, and Megan wants one in purple. Scott wants his done in as many florals, stripes, and polka dots as he can—maybe even in blue. We can rarely get him to tone it down.
P.S. Amanda Jean has a new book Sunday Morning Quilts with co-author Cheryl Arkison being released this very week. We haven’t seen it yet, but the cover looks fabulous. You can get your own autographed copy from Amanda here.
Blog Post of the Week
This post is not very long or elaborate. But what it lacks in length, it makes up for in sheer ingenuity! Check out this ribbon organizer that April made.
She recycled an old warped cutting mat for the stiffness factor and created a very stylish and tidy organizer here. April made it for the Moda Bake Shop Sliced Contest, and you can see more photos of it here and if you go here you can see other great entries in that same contest. April’s Ribbon Wrangler was also mentioned as a favorite over at Craftzine as well. Her entry did not make the first cut but you can keep up with final stages of the contest from here on out. And April, we sure think your Wrangler was a Winner!!
