Saturday Special: An Underestimated Lone Star and A Snowy Castle

by Scott on January 28, 2012

Quilt of the Week

Here is a killer quilt by Kathleen Eubanks, AKA birdylegs on Flickr.  In Kathleen’s notes on her Flickr post, she points out that this quilt is the result of not enough planning ahead for a traditional Lonestar quilt, but we just can’t get over how planned out and fresh this quilt really feels.  It zings us right in our little zig-zaggy little hearts.

Post of the Week

Natalie of Greenleaf Goods totally stole our hearts during our blog visits this week with the pictures of her do. Good Stitches quilt.  Bright pink, purple, and yellow against the background of a snowy castle? Be still our hearts!  At first we thought, oh this is in the U.K.  somewhere.  Nope, right in the middle (well, almost middle) of the United States, in none other than Cleveland, Ohio.  We think every town should have a castle for taking shots of your quilts for your blog, don’t you?

If you can’t find a castle, almost every town has a few gorgeous old homes that would make perfect backdrops for photos. Even old barns can serve the purpose well.
